My Story…

This page is all about me. Who I am and how I came to be here!

I became a health coach after many years of struggling with a myriad of nuisance ailments.

I would like to tell you some things about my journey to wellness.

I am a mom to a charming son and two wonderful daughters, one of whom is now a mom herself. She has given me three beautifully perfect grandchildren and I am in awe of her energy and enthusiasm for life!

Over the years we have done a lot of camping, hiking and museum visits with the grand kids. Is there anything more fun then a grownup having a good reason to run wild on the playground?

My husband is my best friend and has been my rock through some very traumatic, inconceivable life events.

I have a very supportive extended family and a circle of awesome friends.

My favorite things to do are camping, reading, gardening, hiking and flea marketing.

I enjoy diy projects such as landscaping, painting and small home makeovers.
You might find me with a canvas and paintbrush, although I am certainly not going to be presenting my creations in any gallery!

My life is pretty good today, but it hasn’t always been this way!

During my 20’s and 30’s I began experiencing a LOT of strange physical ailments. It began with fatigue then progressed to frequent bouts of diarrhea, bloating and severe cramping. After years of lab tests and diagnostics tests and imaging, barium, electrodes and many other tests, I was no further enlightened then I started, plus I had developed additional life altering symptoms as well. Here are some of the things I was dealing with:

  • Excessive and unexplainable weight gain
  • Bouts of severe, disabling anxiety
  • Complete loss of self esteem
  • gradually progressing insomnia
  • Bone deep fatigue
  • Brain fog
  • Memory loss
  • Constant episodes of debilitating digestive malfunctions

I could not imagine why my body/mind/spirit was making me feel so awful!

In an effort to correct what was happening to me, I began a decades long series of extreme diets. I became a yo-yo dieter for many years and literally spent decades losing and gaining the same 20-30 pounds, over and over again!I tried low calorie, low carb and low fat.

I went to the gym, I took yoga and I did aerobics. After a few weeks of deprivation, I would find myself bingeing on every ‘easy’ calorie or carb I could get my hands on!

My body was trying very hard to save me from this destructive eating cycle.

It took a lot of time and suffering before I was able to begin seeing the truth! Throughout the entire process, I was blind to what was actually going on!I was eating fast food, processed food, glucose spiking boxed and canned and chemical laden food.

Feed lots were becoming common and livestock came to be viewed by the industry as property to produce income; kept alive and fattened but with no concern for the animals natural instincts or need to socialize, bond and raise their young.  Food was enhanced with synthetic nutrients and designed to have a LONG shelf life. B removing parts that would spoil and injecting chemicals that would prevent spoilage! Genetically Modified crops became the norm, sprayed heavily and often with Glyphosate (aka Roundup) and other crop management compounds.

My body was unable to identify many of the ‘foods’ I was eating!

Chemicals, preservatives, insecticides, fungicides, flavor enhancers, artificial colors, artificial flavors, hormones, ultra-concentrated glucose, processed sodium, synthetic fortifications…….and more.

My Immune system was on red alert. My filtration systems were overloaded. Between the flavor enhancers, the hormones, the super-ultra concentrated sugars, the extreme and artificial flavorings and the ease and convenience of putting it in my mouth, something else was happening as well.

I was experiencing all the classic symptoms of both Food Addiction and Food Intolerance! Not only was I eating artificial food, but it was so easy and so convenient that I did not even consider any other way! This is how modern marketing works.Simply knowing this did not solve the problem though.

The only objective is to keep us alive and addicted to their products.

First, I had to realize that our system of commercialism has created a marketing system that is designed by psychologists, sociologists, statisticians, attorneys, government agencies and scientists.

Effective marketing campaigns are designed to create a feeling of inadequacy about our body, our social status, our relationships and our possessions.

We are all portrayed as being and having less than we should. We are led to believe we must spend our time and money in an impossible effort to ‘fix’ ourselves into the illusion of perfection.

We need the perfect body.

We must wear the latest fashions.

Our transportation must have all the gadgets.

We must be able to keep up with this illusion and possess the most and the best of all those shiny objects they are selling! Meantime, we get second jobs to afford this ‘necessary lifestyle’ and no longer have time or energy to even prepare our own food.

Fast food and boxed food becomes the norm.

I deprived myself of nourishment of every kind in a futile effort to feel like I was enough

  • Skinny enough?
  • Smart enough?
  • Pretty enough?
  • checkUseful enough?
  • checkFun enough?

Did I drive the right car, wear the right clothes, use the right cleaning products-makeup-perfume-Did I have the right education-read the right books-belong to the right clubs………

This is what I was taught. This is what I believed about me and about life in general! This is what my peers believed. This is what I saw every day and every hour- product jingles, movies, commercials…..

Add to that a dogmatic and judgemental religious upbringing?

I was convinced that I was going to hell before I was 8 years old!

I lived in fear for myself and all those poor classmates who belonged to the wrong religion, ie any religion that wasn’t the same as mine!

It is all a LIE.

I am Perfectly… ME.

Right here. Right now. Just as I am.

I appreciate myself today. I provide my mind-body-spirit with healthy food and positive lifestyle choices. I discovered ways to free myself from psychological marketing schemes designed to KEEP me addicted to poor quality, nutrient deficient, chemical laden, sugar concentrated and fake. over processed ‘food like’ products

.I joined a group of like minded people and became educated, empowered and accountable.
